Dividends aren't that complicated. Companies that like to share the wealth grant shareholders a dividend, a cash payment offered once a year, semi-annually or quarterly. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), utilities, telecom companies and banks tend to pay the highest. But if dividends are a good thing why don't all companies pay them?
