Talk to your doctor
Doctors are often amazed that the usual answer at the end of a visit is no. What is the question? Do you have any questions!
Whether shyness, embarrassment or lack of preparation is to blame patients often miss an important opportunity to better their health.
Here are some simple tips for a better visit with your physician:
1. Take notes. You can't remember everything so write down the key points you're given. Alternatively, ask your doctor to put his remarks in writing.
2. If you don't understand something say so. Ask for simpler words or a broader explanation if you don't know what a term, procedure or diagnosis means.
3. Repeat back what you think you heard to make sure you're in agreement.
