Statin warning

Many Americans have benefited greatly from statins. These little pills with few side-effects help to lower cholesterol and boost heart health. And generic forms can cost as little as 5 cents a day (check out Costco). But be careful if you combine your statin with blood pressure pills. In particular, calcium channel blockers and those that prevent blood clots actually raise statin levels in your bloodstream. Check with your doctor to see if you might do better with a lower statin dose or a different medication.
