Beware fake news
Sometimes it shows up as spam. Other times it's a fake Facebook link. And too often it shows up as real news. Fake news dominated all media in 2016 and threatens to continue. It may have elected a president. So how do you discern fake news from real?
There are lots of indicators. Some sights, such as The Onion, are satirical and meant to poke fun. Others, like Breitbart, are meant to incite reactions. But if facts and reality are important to you for making sound decisions and developing your views please be careful.
Some sites sound trustworthy. For example, why wouldn't MSNBC.website or NationalReport.net not sound official? They're not! They play on trademark names or generic news headings (Tribune, Times, Examiner, etc.) that suggest legitimacy.
