Paying tuition with a credit card?

While I would never recommend paying college tuition with a credit card outright there's nothing wrong if you don't have to pay a fee and if you plan to pay the balance in full. Why would you want to use a credit card? If your credit card offers cash back or mileage credits this is an excellent chance to cash in on a bonus.

Not that long ago one could buy U.S. Savings Bonds or even stamps with a credit card (paying say 3%) and receive as much as 2% cash back or mileage from the credit card company. It didn't take long for the parties involved to wise up and now this is a thing of the past. But you can still use a credit card to make a down payment on a car or other large purchase and pocket the miles or cash back bonus.

But what about college tuition? There are more than 100 U.S. colleges that will accept a credit card and not charge a fee. Which are they? Look here: Credit Card Tuition
